Join the Green Friday movement

Black Friday, the widely-known unofficial shopping holiday just after American Thanksgiving, is just days away and consumers around the globe are trying to take advantage of half priced deals and limited time offers. As the craze of holiday shopping season begins, environmental enthusiasts are joining forces to promote awareness for a new holiday: Green Friday.

The Origin of Black Friday:

Did you know the term Black Friday wasn't always synonymous with holiday shopping? In fact, in the 1950's, factory managers first started referring to the Friday after Thanksgiving as Black Friday because so many of their workers decided to falsely call in sick, resulting in an extended holiday weekend.

Fast forward 30 years and Black Friday is as we know it today. Unfortunately, the mentality and reputation it has built over the years have put a focus on overconsumption and consumerism, without much thought for planet Earth or the living species in it.

Green is the new black.

We're hoping to shift your perspective to think differently this shopping season.¬†The Green Friday movement is more than just two words. It's our march towards a healthier planet and a more sustainable lifestyle. Here at Stardog, we stress mindfulness across our supply chain. Don't get me wrong, we have some¬†ah-maz-ing holiday offers,¬†like upwards of 40% off on our best-selling¬†products, but all of our products are sourced ethically with the smallest environmental footprint, formulated with¬†sustainable materials like 100% organic hemp, organic cotton, and natural rubber and then hand-crafted by the finest Ateliers in Colombia.¬†We're also initiating social action with a new campaign entitled #ProjectStardogRainforest - where we've partnered with a Colombian forest conservation company,¬†Bosque Nagal, to help rebuild a Colombian rainforest. How can you help? It's simple, make a purchase on our website and we will plant a tree in your name.¬†ūüĆ≤

Why Green Friday?

Our over-arching goal is to generate awareness and challenge consumers not to run to any brick and mortar, but instead choose to shop consciously with  sustainable brands and promote actions of recycling or donating old clothes.

While many consumers are excited to rush the retail doors and get ahold of the best deals, they aren't aware of the ways in which their gift shopping is actually harming the planet through carbon emissions, or plastic waste produced by packaging, or even the long-term waste in landfills.

Green Friday is simply shifting our mindsets to find alternative ways to gift this season, whether that's donating to a charity or researching and shopping with sustainable brands that possess the right certifications, all in efforts to not further damage the Earth.  Help us show consumers and the fashion industry as a whole that you can use sustainable materials, maintain an ethical supply chain, all while giving back to the planet and to the people.
